Brinkman leads Regina at Keith Vry Invitational

Jared Brinkman won an individual title at 285 pounds to help Regina to a ninth-place finish at the Aplington-Parkersburg Keith Vry Invitational on Saturday.

Class 1A eighth-ranked Don Bosco won the team title with 184 points while Clarion-Goldfield was second with 145 and Sumner-Fredericksburg was third with 132 points.

Regina finished ninth with 59 points at the 13-team tournament, 11 points in front of tenth place Highland.

Brinkman was one of three Regina wrestlers to record top-four finishes with his title at 285 pounds.

The top-ranked senior needed just 12 seconds to earn a pin in the semifinals and won a 12-4 major decision over Cameron Bemino of Belmond-Klemme in the 285 pound title match.
With the two wins on Saturday Brinkman improved to 6-0 on the season.

Nick Milder added a third place finish at 170 pounds and Mason Simpson was fourth at 182 pounds for the Regals.
